LARGE BOWIE KNIFE
THE GRIP IS OF SOLID DEER STAG WITH BRASS OR COPPER FERRULE, THE GUARD IS OF BRASS. THE BLADE IS QUITE LARGE AND STRONG, THE SPINE IS VERY VERY THICK. CONDITION IS VERY GOOD WITH AGE WEAR AND PATINA, BLADE AND HILT ARE TIGHT. LIKELY 1840s-1860s PROBABLY PRE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR BUT MUST HAVE BEEN USED DURING THE WAR BY A CONFEDERATE SOLDIER OR OFFICER. VERY IMPRES...SIVE LARGE KNIFE.
