Just out of a local house is this rare pair of antique Art Nouveau candlesticks. These were made by Bauer, Rosenthal, Kronach between 1897 and 1903. In 1897 Phillip Rosenthal, his brother Wilhelm, and the ceramic engineer C M Bauer went into partnership and opened a factory in Kronach, Germany. They had several ceramic artists including professor Joseph Vetter contribute to the Art Nouveau designs produced there. The partnership came to an end in 1903 and became part of the... Rosenthal firm. The candlesticks depict sheerly draped young ladies holding candlecups above their heads in opposing stances. The porcelain has an allover slightly iridized surface with marbleized candle cups and bases. They measure about 12 3/8 inches tall and about 5 3/8 inches across the base. The candlesticks are nicely marked with the Bauer, Rosenthal, Kronack mark used only between 1897 and 1903 as well as some impressed numerals. They are in excellent condition with only some very slight rough spots on the lower part of one lady's dress raised edge that is under the glaze and done in the making. This is shown in the last photo. See photos as they are part of the description. Would make a nice addition to any collection and is guaranteed as described.Calculated shipping is based on ebays shipping calculator.
