The glaze is made using copper oxide, and... is 'flambe'ed' with flashes of of blue intentionally by the potter. The spectacular effect was created when the glaze was fired at temperatures of over 1200 degrees C - an achievement when you consider that the kilns used were fired using simple tools and wood - no electricity to control the heat.It is called 'arrow vase' because the lugs to the side give it a shape not dissimilar to the quiver for holding arrows, which was carried on the archer's back.Height: 32cm
