A document, dating to 1695 from the colony of Connecticut signed and sealed by John Wolcott. This is a land deed for a sawmill to be built near what was referred to as the Hartford River. The land was purchased by John ...Haylo, Samult Crow, Nathaniel Loomas, Timothy Phelps, and one other man whose name appears to be Juno. True to the time the spellings are a bit different, "f" is an "s' they say things such as runneth and turneth when referring to the river. There are also the names Thomas Grant and Henry Wolcott as well. The document sports the original red wax seal. The paper measures 15 inches by 11 1/2 inches. The paper has some fold lines with some small tears on those lines as well as the top right edge which has two areas that are missing. You can see this in the 8th photo. he document is in a frame which I plan on shipping it in. If the frame breaks there will be NO reimbursement or portion of your bid returned. The frame is to keep it safe during shipping, the frame has no value and you are not bidding on the frame as part of the auction. I am just sending it along as a safety measure. This is an incredibly interesting document with several notable names. A beautiful piece of Connecticut history. Please check out my other auctions.
