Reference Number: Avaluer:4489746 |
Description: Original New York City subway system side destination sign, letter lines rollsign. This was used inside actual New York Subway cars that are now long scrapped and not in use.The car types that we conclude this sign should be from is R type cars called R-16's, since the sign has imprint info to say it was made in May 1969. Only used for BMT or IND lines. This shows many station locations on the Eastern division of the subway system, notice the J and M train station locations and then other areas in The Bronx are shown. This was not the original sign from when the cars were made. It was done later when service was adjusted.Whatever the car types used, those are now long since scrapped and these signs are very rare to get.
The sign shows letters various locations and stations in all boroughs of NY except in Staten Island. These are letter lines used for the BMT and IND train divisions and most of the square boxes for each location are in very good shape, not much deterioration to them.
