We have included a number of images below in an attempt to illustrate the form of this compact Native American Indian War Club. A very similar example can be found on view at the Gilcrease Museum and titled “Small war club constructed of a stick handle attached to a rock head with a secure wrap of rawhide / Native American; Plains”. This type of War Club was meant to be used in close, hand to hand combat and although small it makes for a formidable weapon that could deliver a deadly blow.
The Sioux War Club offered here is unconditionally guaranteed original and of the period. It is not NOT a reproduction or modern recreation but an original, Sioux War Club made in the fourth quarter of the 19th century. It is guaranteed to be deemed authentic, original and as described by any qualified third party authentication service.
This very rare and fascinating, ca1880’s Sioux Hide Wrapped, Paint Decorated, Stone Head War Club is in very good condition. It is structurally solid, sound and intact with the hide wrap on the shaft and on the head intact and well preserved although the rawhide used to connect the parfleche wrap of the stone head to the wrap on the shaft is partially detached. There is some loss to the hair on the cow tail drop. While there is some wear commensurate with age and use, overall the War Club is well preserved and displays beautifully. Please see the numerous scans below for a good representation of the form and the condition of this wonderful Sioux War Club.
