Another great piece recently out of storage, from my parents things.Early Northern Plains Indian, beaded bag, probably a Tobacco Bag or used to hold Medicine. It has four horseshoe designs, made of early white beads, with the top of each in colbalt blue beads. The bag itself measures 15 1/2" long, top to bottom x 7" wide at the top, and flaring to 8 1/2" across the bottom. The entire piece is made, of what appears to be Buckskin or Hide of some kind, and has a drawstring made of the sa...me. It is in an old plexiglass frame, backed in what appears to be linen, and has been hung this way for years in their home. The frame itself measures 18 3/4" long x 11" wide x 2 3/4" deep. When held to the side, I can see that the bag is held to the linen in four places by, what appear to be, four small, round, pieces of velro. The piece is lovely with no apparent damage, except for one row of beads, which has come loose, as shown, but do not move when the frame is handled. Condition is excellent, with some minor scratches to the frame. The bag shows no damage, except some darkening from having been used and minor fraying, as shown.It is a wonderful earlier example, that shows beautifully, comes from a smoke free home and would made a great addition to any fine collection.
