Nice original old Easter Island Moai Tangata Moko carved wooden lizard man, Rapa Nui, in what appears to be Robinia wood with very classic form and a curved, flat profile. This is the second, more crudely carved of two (only) we acquired from the same Georgia estate as of a respected, tenured university professor who traveled extensively throughout the world from the 1940’s through the 1980’s and gathered a beautiful and large anthropological collection. The other Moai Moko of the ...two we sold previously here on eBay. We believe this piece to be early an early 20th century example based on the choice of wood and the carving style; we have photographed it from as many angles as possible so that the bidder can judge for themselves as well.
