A very nice Antique (circa late 1800s, early 1900s Arts & Crafts Copper Bowl. The Bowl is hand hammered and has a dimensional Motto around the perimeter "Gather The Rose Buds While Ye May", this is a quotation from a Poem "To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time"... written by English Cavalier poet Robert Herrick in the 17th century. The poem is in the genre of carpe diem, a philosophy that recognizes the brevity of life and, therefore, the need to live for and in the moment, Latin for "seize the day". The Bowl is large at 12" in diameter x 5" high. It was made by a craftsman, I cannot find any marks. It is a lovely quality item. The Bowl is in good overall condition with an excellent patina on the exterior, the interior has verdigris and lime as if a plant was inside, see photos. The Bowl would be perfect in an Arts & Crafts collection.
