1940s Madame Alexander Vintage Composition Flowergirl Karen Doll 14 " Gown Shoes,
Item History & Price
I think she is most commonly known as Karen. She was also often featured as a...n early ballerina doll. In the early bridal parties I believe Karen was always the flower girl. Later hard plastic dolls often featured the Binnie Walker doll as the flower girl but the dress stayed much the same from the composition years to the hard plastic styles
Her wig is absolutely incredible and the most acclaimed characteristic of the particular doll. She has the face that could be the Wendy face--she very much looks like a Wendy doll but it's the braided wig of golden hair that distinguishes her from other composition Wendy dolls.
She is 14" tall, nicely strung, beautiful paint and high color features. Her eyes are perfectly clear--no crazing--and her lashes are dark and thick. She does not have any cracking but she does have paint rubs--mostly around her limb joints--and her face is definitely lined with crazing--although it hasn't cracked, the crazing lines are obvious when looking closely at her. The close ups should represent that well. I don't see any makers marks, but her dress is tagged appropriately.
