Hand-carved by a Minnesotan in the 1930s
The decoy is painted black over a rustic, greenish-blue color showing through on its head. A lighter color outlines the wings on the body. See photos.
There is a lead-weight inlay on the bottom.
Dimensions: 13 1/4 inches long, 5 inches wide, and 5 1/4 inches highThe head was carved separately and attached. The head does not turn, and there are no eyes. There is... a crack on the neck, but the head is stable (attached well). See photos.
The decoy is in good condition for its age: There are places where the paint is rubbed off, especially along edges, but this wear adds to its character. There is a place on the beak where a piece (1/4 x 1/4 x 1/8 inches) has broken off prior to painting as this area is the same color as the rest of the decoy. See photos.
The decoy is clean and from a smoke-free home.
