A Japanese lacquered wood Bon or tray, of quatrelobed shape with raised rim, decorated on the nashiji ground in gold and colored takamakie and hiramakiewith a pair of Mandarin Ducks beneath flowering prunus branches on the bank of a stream, details in togidashi, kirigane and e-nashiji, the reverse in rich nashiji, comes with originalhinoki wood box.
This is a very high quality piece of Edo or Meiji period lacquer, we could not see any makers mark on tray.
The... tray is in very nice condition with no cracking the exception of one very small chip on rim, we measured at 1/8" at it's longest point, it is not deep please look at pictures carefully.
Tray is 10" tall x 12 1/2" wide
The box is very structurally sound, no cracks and joints are tight, it shows tape marks, discoloration and staining but has done it's job well for approx. 150 years. There is writing on outside of box cover and on the inside of cover with a red stamp.
