This listing offering features a four (4) specimen lot of vintage limb sections and thick cut slab of petrified agatized jasperized wood originating from Hampton Butte in Central Oregon! The non-cut display specimens, and especially the cut slab, show some growth structure and a natural bark exterior despite being so highly agatized and jasperized that it is very different in appearance from the original fossil wood that was replaced! The entirety of the full, all natural smaller rare ...green limb cast petrified wood display specimen exhibits the very familiar desert patina typical of fine petrified woods from Hampton Butte. The desert patina is a naturally polished, finished glaze on the exterior of a silicated display specimen which is the product of eons of blowing sand and rock with water and long term exposure to the elements that adds to the attractive feel "in hand" and the aesthetic visual beauty of the specimen. The chalcedony replacing the prehistoric, organic sample of wood is extremely colorful and consists of green and orange as well as others. The impressive Hampton Butte specimen limbs and slab weigh 13.1 ounces together and the slab measures 115mm by 45mm by 7mm. All photographs were taken with the specimen wet excluding the final two photographs which show the prehistoric fossil wood while dry. I will combine shipping for multiple purchases as long as the specimens can be packaged in a manner that minimizes the potential for damage.
