This listing features a two (2) slab lot of large and top quality petrified wood agatized wood slabs originating from Hubbard Basin in Northern Nevada and high upon the Owyhee Mountains in Eastern Oregon near Silver City, Idaho! The Hubbard Basin Petrified Wood shows excellent coloration including blue, red and orange agate and perfect circular growth ring structure and external bark! The Oregon Owyhee Mountains slab displays coloration and agate translucency while preserving cellular ...detail within the fossil wood display specimen. In my opinion, Hubbard Basin agatized wood, alongside Grassy Mountain Wood, is the finest quality petrified gem wood in the World! The detailed cellular replacement, strongly agatized grain and visually pleasing variety of colors make this fossil wood highly desirable among all petrified wood collectors. The translucent agate really creates a three dimensional vision of the prehistoric wood when wet or polished! Together, both fossil wood slabs weigh 9.7 ounces exactly. The large top quality Hubbard Basin display specimen slab measures 144mm by 104mm by 6mm and weighs 6.4oz exactly. Gene Mueller and Jake Jacobitz acquired the last commercial petrified wood harvesting permit from the Nevada BLM several years ago and dug the deposit to exhaustion. If one plans to visit this Northern Nevada desert in search of this gem quality wood, he / she should not expect to find anything of substantial size or quality! The Owyhee wood slab weighs 3.3 ounces and measures 115mm by 102mm by 5mm. Both specimens were photographed while wet excluding the final two photographs which display both sides of both slabs while dry.
