Here's another stunning guitar from the fine folks from Fender Japan. These guitars were crafted in Korea with components from Fender Japan’s operation during the same time as the Vista series was being made in Japan.. There were actually 6 different ProTone Stratocaster styles/models made. This particular Translucent Crimson Red version was part of a set which also had a matching 5-string bass and a Thinline Telecaster! (And yes, I also have those and will be offering them for sale... in the next few months!!) The body is solid ash for good tone. The 25.5 inch scale maple neck features a Rosewood fingerboard with 21 frets. A trio of great sounding Alnico single coil pickups deliver that classic Strat tone. A vintage style trem (with Fender saddles!) and sealed tuners keep it rock solid. If you didn't already know, the Pro Tone series was a short lived model line that has achieved almost cult-like status for its legendary materials and build quality. This example is basically NEW, all original, with zero wear and is in close to mint condition. A Crimson Red Translucent finish shows the beautiful wood grain. The only "flaw" is a very small "bump" between the bridge & the output jack as seen in the LAST PHOTO. (And at this time the vibrato handle is missing, but if a proper one turns up I'll include it) The Squier Pro Tones represent a great value in Stratocasters, certainly the best value at their time and still a fantastic guitar for the money. Legend has it that Fender discontinued the Pro Tone series in 1998 after just three years because these Korean "Squier" guitars were noticeably better than the more expensive "Fender" guitars coming out of their new Mexican factory, which had just opened. Certainly the build quality was superior, the right woods were used and the components were first rate! The bridge is a vintage style unit with 'Fender stamped' hardened steel saddles. Tuners are Fender's own Schaller lookalikes. No need to swap pickups, the staggered alnico pole pickups sound fantastic. That 21 fret maple neck has rolled edges that instantly feel like you've been playing this baby for decades. The 9.25" radius and matte finish enhance that easy playing feel. The controls are conventional Strat: 5-way pickup switch with 1 volume and 2 tone knobs. If you are looking for a first rate player's Strat with a vintage vibe, this could be the one! I'll include a Fender gig bag and it will be carefully packed!!!This guitar is also for sale locally and this listing may be withdrawn. Thanks again for looking and please check out my other listings!
