This superb quality "Ross" camera was retailed by "J. J. Atkinson" of Liverpool.There tapered dark plum coloured leather bellows have some surface splits and scuffs, there is also some fading to the to the creases and folds.I have tried to show the condition in the photographs.The ground glass plate to the back of the camera measures 6 1/4 inches by 4 3/4 inches, which I believe is 1/2 plate size.It is fitted with a "Jena" lens, this also has the "J.J. Atkinson" details and "1185" eng...raved in to the barrel.The glass elements are free from any cracks or chips, but they appear to have some amber coloured marks which may be fungus.It has its' cap.There is a crack to the base board but, the base does feel solid, there are no other cracks or splits to the mahogany, however, there are the usual scuffs and scratches that you associate with a used camera.The wood has taken on a lovely depth of colour and patina.All of the brass work appears to be present and is in working order, it has retained much of its' original lacquering.The bellows and lens board extend and fit into front standard by sliding in to two grooves, similar to "Kinnear" pattern cameras.The camera extends as it should and it folds away smoothly.I have tried to show this in the photographs.The rear of the camera has an applied ivorine plaque with "Ross, London" and the front has the "J.J. Atkinson" brass retailers plaque, the lettering to both are legible with a good colour.The leather handle is present and well attached.We are not experts in cameras or there equipment so please ask for any information or additional photographs you require before bidding or purchasing.
