VER SACRUM (Sacred Spring) founded in 1898 by Gustav Klimt and Max Kurswell. The second volume includes work by Josef Hoffmann, Gustav Klimt, Max Klinger, Koloman Moser, Joseph Maria Olbrich, The´o van Rysselberghe, Aguuste Rodin as well as a whole host of other artists. The edition for each issue was less than 500 copies. The leather binding has wear and rubs with a weakened front hinge that is holding. Cover of first issue is wrinkled.Ver Sacrum was the primary organ for the Viennes...e Secessionists. Published between 1898-1903, it is recognized as the most important document produced by the Secessionists and is a veritable graphic manifesto, whose impact was immediately felt in Vienna and beyond.
