[1783]Selling here is Samuel Johnson's 'Dictionary of the English Language....', printed in London, 1783, the seventh edition. A two volume octavo set. This the last edition to be published in Johnson's lifetime.
8vo, two volumes uniformly bound in period tree calf, gilt ruled compartments, red and black morocco labels gilt lettered to spines. Period plain endpapers, 1786 and 1864 ink inscription to both FFE's.The books measure 14.5cm by 22cm. The contents of the two volumes are textually complete, unpaginated, signatures and catchwords continuous and matching, but lacking the portrait frontispiece.

Textblocks are firm if a touch strained at a couple of points, contents generally in good crisp condition, clean if a little toned and foxed, scattered minor spots creases and marks.
