John Burroughs Original Handwritten Manuscript for "Waiting".
Original handwritten copy of Burroughs' most famous poem, first written when he was just 25. Six stanzas of 4 lines each, handwritten in brown ink by Burroughs. Undated but signed at the bottom. On yellowing sheet 9..5" x 13". The sheet has been glued to the matte board. One of the naturalist/conservationist/author's best known poems, beginning "Serene, I fold my hands and wait. Nor care for wind, nor tide, nor sea......".
The full handwritten version is rarely found; abbreviated two-stanzas versions appear frequently.
