All have black lettering and the volume number stamped in silver gilt on the front panel. All spines are similarly designed with the title and volume number stamped in blue and silver gilt on a black background, with author's name stamped in black text, and publisher's name stamped in black t...ext with silver and black logo.- Vol 1: 1856-1900 The Formative Years and the Great Discoveries. Published 1953. Very good minus book in very good minus dust jacket. This volume also has a photo of Freud affixed on the front panel, a smaller version of the frontispiece. Upper- and lower-most board edges are somewhat sunned, as is spine. Lower edge at tail of board spine has horizontal crease. Inside front gutter is cracked and thus text block is shaken. Internally clean. Dust jacket is scuffed overall. White backgrounds on front and back panels are faintly yellowed. Folds are creased and rubbed but holding. Edges at head and tail of jacket spine are chipped, rubbed and creased. Loss of up to 3/8" at corners on head of jacket spine; tail of spine and fore-edge corners have loss of 1/4" or less. Upper edge of front panel has a 3/8" closed vertical tear toward the upper right corner and with adjacent diagonal creases. Upper edge of back corner has a 1/8" closed vertical tear to the right of center. Not price clipped. - Vol 2: 1901-1919 Years of Maturity. Published 1955. Very good book in very good minus dust jacket. Extremities are sunned, spine more so. Lower edge at tail of spine has horizontal crease. Previous owner's name on FFEP. Internally clean with snug text block. Front and back panels of dust jacket are darkened (akin to yellowing) and lightly soiled overall. Spine is sunned and has a small red stain above "Volume 2". Folds and upper edge are also sunned but less so. Significant losses along upper edge at back fore-edge corner, upper right corner on back panel, upper edge of jacket spine, and several places on the front panel, including upper first fore-edge corner, see photos. Back edge of spine fold have several small closed tears. Lower edge at tail of jacket spine has small chips and closed tears, corners have loss of less than 1/8". Similar loss on lower fore-edge corner tips. Lower edge of back panel has 1 5/8" closed vertical tear near the left corner and two additional closed tears of less than 1/4" each. Upper edge of back inside flap has several closed vertical tears of less than 1/4" and adjacent horizontal creases. Not price clipped.- Vol 3: 1919-1939 The Last Phase. Published 1957. Very good plus book in very good dust jacket. Minimal sunning on upper- and lower-most board edges. Title on spine is lightly scuffed. Book is internally clean and text block is sound. Dust jacket is lightly soiled overall. Spine has several scuffs. All folds are scuffed. Minimal rubs on fore-edge and spine corners.
