This is a great find. It is 'A Manual of Vegetable Materia Medica' by George Wills. It was designed to help medical students pass exams concerning drugs, their sources, preparation, doses and so on. With 24 hand coloured plates showing 158 examples. These plates are very interesting by the way, b...eautifully coloured and with unusual subjects to say the least. LACKING the map; however this copy is interleaved and has extensive contemporary manuscript notes including a few sketches, very interesting stuff. The cloth binding is rubbed to the edges. The text block binding is strong but it has come away from the boards. Name stamp to title page. Complete with 114 pages, then about 30 pages of exam questions, then illustrated advertisements. A wonderful, unique book.
