Easton Press leather edition of "The Poems of John Donne, " a COLLECTOR'S edition, Selected, Introduced, and Annotated by Frank Kermode, Wood Engraving by Imre Reiner, one of the 100 GREATEST BOOKS EVER WRITTEN series, published in 1979. John Donne, who lived from 1572--1631, was educated at CAMBRIDGE and ...OXFORD. Early in life he was a Roman Catholic but he was secretly married to ANNE MORE. Donne took Anglican orders in 1615 and preached sermons which rank among the best. He was the Dean of St. Paul's Cathedral in London. This volume include his most famous poems, including "A Valediction: forbidding mourning, " "Hero and Leander, " and his HOLY SONNETS, including "Death be not proud, " with the concluding lines: "One short sleep past, we wake eternally, And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die"; and "No Man Is an Island, entire of itself.
