You're bidding on "A Witness Tree", by Robert Frost, first edition first printing published June, 1942 by Henry Holt And Company, New York. Winner of the 1943 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, the book is probably best known for the poem, "The Gift Outright", which was read by Frost at the 1961 inauguration of John F. Kennedy - frost had written an original poem for the occasion, but his age and eyesight led him to instead recite this poem from memory.
Book is in overall condition wi...th a few issues - mainly with the dust jacket, which is present, but is price clipped, with some edge chipping and soil, particularly at the spine. Boards and spine cloth are very clean and appealing, though. Binding is solid - Pages have some light age toning, but other than one spot (see photo) and an old ownership inscription on the front endpaper, they remain clean throughout. Overall a nice true first printing of this work from perhaps America's greatest poet.
