An extremely rare "gold" first place winner's medal, in what I assume to be its original case, from the 31st World Weightlifting Championships, which were held in Stuttgart, West Germany from September 17th to 25th, 1977. I would judge it to be in extremely fine (EF) condition or thereabouts, with a few minor edge nicks. Please study my photos and form your own opinion of its grade. The plain black case with dark green velvet lining is in good condition, apart from the underside, where ...a sticky label may have been removed; there is no ribbon.Made from gold-plated bronze (or silver-gilt?), Diameter 70 mm, Thickness approx 5 mm, Weight 144.6 gm.The 13th World Weightlifting Championships featured 186 competitors (all male) from 44 countries. Details of all events can be found on Wikipedia. The identity of the recipient of this medal is unknown.The obverse has the logo of the 1977 World Championships and the German legend "WELTMEISTERSCHAFTEN GEWICHTHEBEN / SEPTEMBER 1977 STUTTGART / XXXI" (31st World Weightlifting Championships September 1977 Stuttgart).
