Here is a stunning carving by Zuni carver, Brian Yatsattie. The bear is made out of an interestingly patterned wild horse (aka 'crazy') magnesite with inlaid jet eyes * the stone is different on each side and from every angle - I particularly like the black and brown streaks that go across the back on one side. It is artist signed on the bottom and was acquired by me, directly from the artist. (I've arrived beyond the abundant zone of incredible carvings and am having to let go of some...) I really admire Brian's artistry and ability to work with some very creative materials - including creating his own stones, using recycled bowling balls and old built up automobile paint (Fordite). This stone and carving however, are a classic and display beautifully. The bear measures just a tad over 3" in length, almost 3/4" wide and 1 3/4" tall.
