This, the first exhaustive work on the subject of tackle-making, is designed to guide the angler in the manufacture of all tackle which can be made at home with simple tools.
Some eighty per cent of angling equipment fall into this category. Rods, flies, spinning tackles, artificial lures, floats, casrs, nets, etc., can all be made by amateurs. This book covers these items and many others including... tackle for fishing for every British fish in salt or fresh water.
Published by Herbert Jenkins in 1938, first edition. The book is bound in the original blue cloth covered boards with black titling on the spine and front board. It measures approx. 8 1/2" x 5 3/4" with 221 pages, a frontispiece and 161 figures within the text.
The case of the book is in very good condition with light bumping to the spine ends and some light dents on the top edge of the rear board.
The contents are tight and clean with some foxing on the first few pages, including the title page. The foxing is mostly around the edges. There is no inscription.
The dustwrapper reflects its age with shelf wear and some soiling and rubbing along the top edge. The spine is browned. The corners are bumped with small pieces missing and about 1/4" is missing from the bottom of the spine. Up to about 1/2" is missing from the top of the spine and part of the top front edge. There are also a few small unrepaired tears on the edges. It has not been price clipped.
