This is a Vintage Barbie #4 Blonde Ponytail Poodle Curl Bangs Transitional1960 to 1961. Made in Japan.
#4 Barbie Model 850 is marked:
"Barbie (R) Pats. Pend. MCMLVIII
By Mattel Inc." (#4 1960 Barbie is marked with (R) during her transition into1961).
- She has a flocked head, slight strawberry blonde hair with poodle curl bangs, her hair is not in the original ponytail.
- eyebrows are faded, eye makeup is worn,
Eyeliner has rubbed off on the rim of eyes,...>Lipstick is partially gone and face has some slight discoloration, due to age. Her original earrings are missing.
- on her upper right arm front and back, there is a slight reddish/pink in some areas. Also on her right calf
- She has a solid body. Some scratches to her the side of her upper left chest area and to her left shoulder. There is the usual minor discoloration to all of her limbs due to age.
- her fingernails have red polish, some of which has faded. No polish on toes.
The bottom of her right foot is marked "Japan". It is hard to see, but it's there.
Overall this Vintage Barbie is in good condition. She was purchased at a yard sale and only came with the clothes she is wearing. She would be a great addition to a collection or for someone starting out collecting vintage barbie.
