Original CDV of a man I believe was Hillsbury William Richardson, who went by H.B., or "Berry" Richardson, as signed on the front in pencil.
The identification isn't 100% positive without finding another ID'd photo of him for comparison, but I am basing the ID on the signature, the photographer, and on other photos purchased in an album along with this CDV that had Nashville, Tennessee studio imprints.
Berry Richardson was born in Carter County, Tennessee, and served... in the Civil War, 13th Tenn Cavalry. According to my research, he died while enlisted, in February 1864, of typhoid fever, and is buried in Nashville. Auction photos #2 and #3 were found online and are shown here for reference only.. hard copies of them are not included.On the back is a photographer's identification:
