RARE ANTIQUE Carte de Visite Photo of Nice Young African American Man, c.1870DESCRIPTION: Nice, very rare EARLY antique photo of young African American man. All dressed up in fancy suit. Scans show it all. Such early photos are very scarce, especially CdVs. Obviously the number taken was small. This is no newer than 1870. It is CdV measurements, and made to fit an early CdV album.
This came with a collection of several early, antique photos of African American subjects. Pr...obably from the same antique album. Some are cabinet photos, identified with photographer names, and all from various towns in Mississippi, including GREENWOOD, MISSISSIPPI and HOLLY SPRINGS, MISSISSIPPI photographers. Only a few CdV's were in the collection, given their earlier period just after the Civil War.
This is a great gift for the photo collectors in your family. Excellent condition overall. A great looking photo and a rare early CdV photo. Good early photos of Black African Americans are very hard to find, especially when identified to the state or region!
