Rare 19th Century American Lead Glazed Redware Socket Cup. This cup, likely made in Pennsylvania or Maryland during the 2nd half of the 19th century, was designed with a attached saucer. The saucer added stability when the cup needed to be transported. Possibly for use by the an invalid or the infirmed. Called a trembleuse by the French. A rarity in American folk pottery.
