This is a black and white sound 16mm cartoon SEEIN' RED WHITE 'N' BLUE (1943) a TV original in very nice condition, little surface wear (there is some brief emulsion scuffing early in the film that lasts about 4 seconds.) Runs about 7 minutes. Draft dodger Bluto will do anything do avoid military service until he sees Popeye ganged up on by a bunch of Japanese spies disguised as orphans (!) Extreme stereotypes, caricatures of the Emperor, Hitler and Goering all of whom get their comeup...pance. Dan Gordan gets director credit, but animator Jim Tyer's trademarks are all over this wild episode; breakneck pace with characters all but bursting from the screen. Maybe the most frenzied Popeye cartoon ever! And plenty of downright goony throwaway gags. No VS and I don't believe I saw any splices. A find!
