DESCRIPTION:This listing is for an antique all bisque German character baby doll, 1910+. This doll measures 4-1/2" tall incised what looks like "838" with 3 below on the back of her head, she is also marked under her arms and legs with numbers, see photo. She is strung fine so I did not wish to damage her stringing cord trying to read these numbers under her arms and legs. She is jointed at the shoulders and hips with all fingers intact, I notice a tiny paint rub under... the bottom of her left toe. My reference book "Kester King of Doll Makers" shows similar doll being mold 838 on page 218. She has a great character face with brown glass sleepy eyes that work fine, long painted lashes around the eyes, brown eye brows, open/close mouth with two molded upper teeth and painted lips, there is a white space between the lips. There is a small paint "rub" on the right cheek, also a tiny bisque imperfection on forehead, it looks like old glue but could be a bubble in the bisque. There are no cracks or hairlines inside her head, some overall wear throughout her bisque. She wears brunette bobbed wig. Her vintage dress has matching panties and is clean with a tie at the back, she has no stockings or shoes.
