KING-SIZE CANARY (M-G-M, 1947) One of Tex Avery’s wild and crazy cartoons, with plenty of his trademark comic exaggeration. The story is simple: a hungry cat tries to fatten up a puny canary with “Jumbo-Gro” elixir, only to find that the canary grows to elephantine proportions. The neighborhood dog gets into the elixir, making him also grow exponentially, and soon all three are taking turns gulping down the elixir — so they can overpower each other and inflict slapsti...ck mayhem all over the screen! All of the usual Avery trademarks are here, including ludicrous sight gags, a refrigerator branded “Coldernell, ” and a hectic musical score by Scott Bradley. Running time: 8 minutes. Reduction lab print (1998 Agfacolor) on unbreakable polyester stock, so it won’t fade or “turn vinegar” on you! Like-new condition, run only a few times.
