Item Description:What an amazing and beautiful old piece of travel history! This trunk just as it is would be quite the historical eye catcher for your antique decor. Not too bad for something from the mid 1800's but indeed in need of a restore. The leather is very dry and hard and would require professional restoring If not then someone who loves it just as it is with... all it's unknown stories we could imagine it's been through, or the dirt roads it's been down. It's of English design but could be made here in the US given the less ornate brass tack pattern. May have been through the Civil war because it certainly has that look about it to a T. It is approximately 22"x12"x12" and appears that the top was intended to function also as a seat. It's missing some straps and the top/seat leather hinge is completely worn so it's being held together by the cloth within. The cloth by the way was likely replaced around 1931 because there is an old newspaper dated 1931 underneath the lid used for cushion. There is no key.
