VRY RARE CHINESE IMPERIAL GUANGXU MARK & PERIOD YELLOW GLAZE WINE CUP DISH STANDNO RESERVE ESTATE TREASURES AUCTION inc FINE ASIAN ARTS Hello, thank you for having a look at our auctions! We recently offered this cup and stand and it received a lot of attention. After the sale the cup was re-inspected and found a very finely done repair to the one side dragon handle, that is extremely well-done. So we are now re-offering this cup and stand noting one handle being restored. The cup and stand are otherwise in excellent condition.
The Chinese Imperial Guangxu Mark & Period Yellow glaze wine cup with stand were originally purchased in the 1990’s from the high-end Lally Co gallery in New York as labeled. I have seen similar cups and stands from other Qing reigns, but this is the first Guangxu example I have personally ever seen. I am told these examples were produced for strict imperial use and that a very limited quantity would have been made.
The cup and stand have a rich yellow color with intricately carved archaic dragons surrounding both rims. The cup also has unique archaic dragon figural side handles. The stand measures 5 1/4 inches wide. The wine cup measures 3 1/2 inches long including the dragon handles, by 2 1/4 inches wide, and 1 1/2 inches tall. A truly fine imperial quality example.
