Vintage 1979 Canon A - 1 Camera With FD 50mm F/1. 8 Lens - Perfect Starter Camera
Item History & Price
If you are interested in trying out film cameras again (or for the first time), the Canon A-1 is a great place to start. The camera body is super solid, has a great tactile feel, is mostly metal, and it has stood the test of time.Likewise, the Canon FD lens is responsive, makes manual focus easy, and has clear settings for proper exposures.
This camera is not perfect, but it should be a good shooter. It has an occasional ...Canon "squeak" (about every 6 or 8 clicks of the shutter), there is some light dust on the inside of the view finder, and the rear light seals are worn. The body shows wear and re-touches, and the base plate is missing one screw and the winder cover.
The lens appears to be clear of dust and fungus, it responds to ring dial smoothly, and the focus is sharp.
The camera body serial number is: 691928 and the date stamp is T12XX: Manufactured in December of 1979.The lens serial number is: 8104315 and the date stamp is Y1116; Manufactured in November of 1984.
New battery and lens cap (not pictured) included.
While this camera and lens appear to be in good working order, I have not used it to expose a roll of film. In other words, the actual working condition is unknown.
