Babe Ruth starred as himself in the Lou Gehrig tribute "Pride of the Yankees". The year after Babe Ruth's death (1949) RKO Re-Released the 1942 film capitalizing on the enormous popularity of the Babe. In addition to the 1949 movie posters, which collectors ...actually like better the the 1942 posters, RKO produced a number of photos that captures Ruth during the filming of this sports/biography classic. And they re-released the Babe Ruth "Pride of the Yankee" photos in 1949. Here is super nice image of the Babe during filming. * See enlargeable image above

The Pride of the Yankees (RKO, R-1949). Original Photo Still (8" X 10").
This classic biopic tells the story of the short but remarkable life of baseball great Lou Gehrig, the NY Yankee first baseman that earned the nickname "The Iron Horse" for his endurance and reliability. After meeting the love of his life (Teresa Wright), Gehrig is struck down with an incurable (and ultimately fatal) neurological condition and forced to retire from the game.
