Here is a well preserved and sparingly used Glass Cigar Counter Jar or Humidor with its Original Lid that held and advertises "La Palina" Cigars. I would say this jar dates from the 1940's or 1950's; however, it could be slightly older and could have been in service into the 1960's. This is a 50 Count Jar, meaning it held 50 La Palina (or any) 5" cigars of the day. It is designed with Sixteen Fluted Panels on a round bas...e and rim. The jar stands 5 1/2" with a 5" mouth. It is nicely Embossed on the obverse with the advertising, "La Palina The Quality Cigar Since 1896" all within an oval. It is embossed on the bottom, "1st Congress Cigar Co." and "Dist. Penna (Pennsylvania) Factory C 513".. There is also embossed on the bottom the number "50", indicating the number of cigars the jar holds. This jar may have been used to sell the full 50 cigars to the consumer, , or used on the counter of a tobacco store, bar, grocery store, newspaper stand, or other venue to sell individual cigars. The jar is in Excellent Condition -- Please see the Condition Section for details. This is a very nice specimen of an early-mid 20th Century advertising jar that would go nicely in a collection or on a home bar or desk. I ship USPS, FedEx or UPS, depending on which is the most practicable given the item being shipped. This would come USPS Priority Mail -- Because of its fragility.
