Up for auction is a really good Hen Redhead (see grey speculums) made by the Benz Wood Products Company, Jefferson City, Missouri, ca. 1930s. This decoy is in all original paint that has survived very well over its 90 years. Pretty clear that this decoy was not heavily used. The wing painting pattern is particularly strong. It exhibits nice scalloping around the breast and good original glass eyes. It does have some min...or wear including rubs to the end of the tail, a small rub on the breast, as well as a chip on the end of the bill. It has had a chip reglued on the bottom portion of the bill, however no glue is visible and nothing shows up under blacklighting. This is an excellent example of this highly regarded factory’s best work. Measures 14-1/4” long; 5-1/4” wide; and 5-1/2” tall. Please ask questions or for more photos.
