Original Description:
A Fine Example of an Antique Japanese Tobacco Box Tonkotsu.
Part of a private London collection and first time on the market, the box is beautifully carved, with grotesque face and glass eyes. It also retains its original carved bone bead. Exact age unknown but I would guess Meiji period, please see the photos provided. Lovely smooth patina and colour from age.
In good condition. The original thread is very fragile and torn so I have re-threaded using string as a temporary measu...re to ensure the bead is not lost, can easily be re-threaded with a more appropriate thread. Please see the photos provided. A stunning and scarce example of Tonkotsu which would grace any oriental collection.
Measures approximately 10.5cm in height.
Re Condition: I always describe items to the absolute best of my ability. Vintage and antique items are not brand new and will always show signs of use and wear commensurate with age.
