The butterfly and gourd are symbols of long life and longevity. This large circular roundel medallion trim might have come off of an older Manchu robe for added decoration and symbolism. It has has been matted with a blue damask weave silk ribbon trim and a light blue cut silk damask weave pattern trim edging, backing, suitable and ready for framing, with a "Peking, China" paper label on the back. It measures 14 inches wide and is in good condition, with only a few faint small stains (see close-up). This is truly a beautiful one of a kind piece of antique Chinese textile embroidery art!
