Wow! Fantastic estate find!!!! Large Sterling Pitcher from the Moore Period which dates from 1865-1870. The Pattern number 1653 shown on the bottom would seem to date it to around 1866 in that date range. The Pitcher is beautifully engraved with two bands of foliate tendrils and leaves on an intricately engraved swirled background. Additionally there are tow bands of stylized greek key bands and the handle is attached to the body with stylized lotus motifs. This... piece is Monogramed in the front central cartouche with what seems to be the initials Mc H C. This pitcher is about 9 inches tall at the top of the handle and about 7 inches in diameter. The Pitcher weighs 1004 grams or about 32.4 ozs. The pitcher is in really wonderful estate, antique condition for 153 years old. The engraving is crisp and not over polished all the details are preset. That is not to say that it is perfect, It has been gently used and has a few pin point dents to the body. A wonderful and serviceable piece for your collection!
