Each button is handworked and hand shaped so although similar, each handmade button is unique. This group are of a similar shape but vary in colour.
No two are exactly the same. you can see and sometimes feel the impressions made by the hand tools.
Each ...of these buttons is made from glass and are approximately 2.5 cm long and 2 cm wide. The colour palette is gold and pale blue.
Dixie told me that this group of buttons date from the end of the war.
From 1946 -1966 Lionel Nichols made buttons in his studio in Marylebone in London.They were extensively used by the fashion houses of the 1940s and 1950s, places like Hardy Amies & Norman Hartnell.Unusual and beautiful, almost like jewellery, today they are rare collectors items and still in demand from fashion designers - when they can get hold of them!
