This is a very scarce pitcher by Tom Stewart, St Andrews. Ralph Livingston's book on Stewart has two shallow blade, wide soled pitchers described and pictured on page 153. This club is similar to the bottom pitcher on the page. The specs aren't identical but the majority of the measurements are closer to those described for the unnamed pitcher. The oval name stamp is that of ARTHUR DAY, GANTON. Day was in Ganton 1917-1932. Stewart's pipe mark and tra...de mark verbiage are in the usual place. This club has 40* of loft, a face depth of 1 1/2" at the deepest point and a very wide 3/4" sole. The shaft and grip are not original. The head is tight to the hosel. The replacement grip is a leather wrap, rough side out. This scarce, seldom seen piece is a must for Stewart collectors and lovers of unique antique golf clubs. Buy with confidence.
