BY THE HIGHLY TALENTED WOOD CARVER RENE XUANA
WONDERFUL MUSEUM QUALITY WORK! AMAZING AND DIFFICULT TO EXECUTE SENSE OF MOTION!
We fell in love with the work of Rene Xuana as soon as we saw it in Oaxaca. Rene is part of the famous Xuana Family of San Martin Tilcajete. He is a notably skilled wood carver who has a great sense of both whimsy and reality in his carvings.Rene is well known for how masterfully he is able to... carve figures out of one solid piece of copal wood.. a feat that many artists never even attempt! His wife Rudbelia is an expert painter who does fine work with much precision. It is a pleasure for us to be able to share their work with you! These horses are elegant yet full of the flair and whimsy that we love in Mexican Folk Art! I love the sense of movement in this piece, with the raised leg and the curved tail! And the texture in the mane is the perfect creative touch! Museum quality at an affordable price. There are no removable parts, and the piece is signed by the artist.
