Knighthead militia officer sword with scabbard. 33-1/2" overall out of scabbard, blade about 27-5/8". Blade etched "THE/HENDERSON/AMES CO/KALAMAZOO/MICH". Made C1890-1920 as a successor firm of the Ames Mfg Co of Chicopee, Mass, and Nathan P. Ames, famed swordmaker of the civil war and earlier. Blade is cleaned to a light gray with scattered spotting and very little light pitting. Brass parts have attractive light patina. Natural grip is fine, free of cracks and chips. Dark brown leath...er scabbard is good with mostly smooth surfaces. The drag mount is detached currently, we can reattach it with a quality leather adhesive, but have not done so in case the buyer would prefer to fix it, and because we don't feel we can guarantee the repair.
