Please be advise that, although Arch Quilts was an American company based in New York, this quilt a(as well as all others they made in the 1990', was handcrafted in China.
The company we believe is no longer in business. They ordered contractors in China hand made quilts using traditional American patterns and techniques. Some of their most coveted pieces are reproductions of historic quilts that are part of the Smithsonian Institution's (Washington DC) collection.
This qui...lt, as far as we know, is not one of those reproductions. It might be a reproduction of a Baltimore Album in a collection of quilts in that city, but we have not been able to confirm that either.
Please notice the block on pic # might represent young George Washington approaching the cherry tree with an "axe", but we have no idea if that is the case. Other blocks show a couple making butter and more. We ran out of space and were not able to post close-ups of all blocks.
Besides the appliques, there are several patchwork blocks with traditional pieced quilt patterns, 3 of them clearly seen on pic # 1.
It measures 86" on each side and weighs 5 lbs unboxed. All the fabrics are 100% cotton, the batting is polyester. The sewing of the appliques and the quilting were done by hand.
We can not combine the shipping of this item with any other of ours, except a quilt top, due to bulk and weight.
