M1943 Combat Field Pack
Original WW2 GI M1943 combat field pack, OD #7 canvas and cotton web construction featuring large flap on top with web loops for attaching extra gear and zippered pocket, shoulder and belt straps, and sizing straps for reducing size of pack when not fully loaded. Well marked U.S. on flap, HEPBURN MFG CO. 1943 under flap. All straps and hardware are intact with one exception--the snap hook on right rear belt strap is missing its flat spring [see photos], but d...oes not affect frontal appearance. Light water stain to lower left front side but also does not affect overall appearance.A larger version of the true "jungle pack" that was introduced in 1942, the M1943 pack saw widespread use in the ETO during the winter of 1944-45 and numerous period photos show the packs in action, from Italy to the Battle of the Bulge to the Rhine crossing. Nice example of one of the harder-to-find WW2 field packs and is in very fine condition. Any questions please feel free to ask.
