This auction is for what appears to be an Order of Saint George Star, which was issued for the 1st or 2nd Class. After a significant amount of research, I cannot be certain if this is the original or a high-quality reproduction. Although, given that not that many 1st or 2nd Class awards were issued, I highly doubt the originality. Nevertheless, a high quality reproduction to fill a collection need. The stars of the Order were four-pointed with a pink, red or yellow centre. This pa...rticular example has the yellow enamel centre. The central medallion bore the cipher "S.G." surrounded by the inscription that translates approximately as "For Service and Bravery." The sides of the star are around 67 mm each.
