Morgenthau referenced the deportations of intellectuals and requested urgent and immediate assistance….”The American Committee for Armenian and Syrian Relief was established in 1915 with the cooperation of the United St...ates Department of State, for the purpose of providing humanitarian relief to Armenians forcibly deported from Anatolia to other parts of the Ottoman Empire during World War I. The Ottoman parliament passed a law by which privately collected funds from the United States could be distributed to displaced Armenians via the U.S. embassy in Constantinople. The poster identifies Armenia, Greece, Syria, and Persia as areas of need. After World War I, the American Committee for Armenian and Syrian Relief was given a charter by the U.S. Congress and changed its name to the American Committee for Relief in the Near East. The organization was credited with caring for 132, 000 Armenian orphans in Tbilisi, Constantinople, Beirut, Damascus, Jerusalem, and other locations in the Near East. First American Red Cross mission, raised $117 Million. Now offered for your consideration is this vintage poster, art by WF Benda, promoting the ACRNE campaign for $30, 000, 000. Very good condition. Measures 23 x 34" inches. Offered and sold as is. This is like in brand new condition, even after all these years. Does have one tiny ink mark on right side, looks to be when printed. No tears. Thanks for considering, more antique posters to come from an old New England estate of a friend of mine, her Grandfather worked for the American Red Cross. These posters have been safely stored in an attic since then.Will be mailed in a tube and padded and insured.
